LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Nov. 5, 2014 – Anyssa Dagnino's goal at 36:56 Friday night proved to be the game-winning goal as she led New Mexico Highlands University to a 1-0 win over Fort Lewis College. The loss for the Skyhawks in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament ended the Skyhawks season with a 6-8-5 overall record (5-5-4 in RMAC games).
"We lost a tough 1-0 decision," said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "We are a young team and making the tournament was a good start."
The Skyhawks, who were the fifth seed in the conference tournament, tallied nine shots in the game, five of which landed on goal. Both of
Andra Thaden's shots were on target.
Courtney Riley and
Kyra Darr also registered two shot attempts against the Cowgirls.
Kodie Johnson made her first start of the season in goal and stopped seven of the Cowgirls eight shots on goal.
The Skyhawks bid to the RMAC Tournament was their 10
th straight appearance to the post-season.
