Hot Shooting Leads to 30-Point Win over Mustangs

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – For the ninth time this season, the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team shot at least 50 percent from the floor.  The Skyhawks netted 31-of-58 field goals for 53.4 percent as FLC rolled to a 90-60 win over Western New Mexico Friday night at Whalen Gymnasium.
 
Six Skyhawks scored in double figures, led by Nick Tomsick's game high 14 points.  Alex Herrera added 13 points, three rebounds and four blocks, while Mike Matthews posted 10 points, three steals, two blocks and three caroms.  Cade Kloster, Lucas Archuleta and Wes McKenzie each came off the bench to net 11 points each.
 
The Skyhawks led the entire game and led by as many as 31 points with 2:07 left in regulation.  Fort Lewis' bench outscored the Mustangs, 41-25, and the Skyhawks dominated the paint, posting 36 points to WNMU's 14.  They also tallied 26 points off of turnovers and 22 second chance points.
 
Western New Mexico was led by Terrez Scott with 13 points and three assists.  Kody Salcido posted nine points and a game high seven rebounds.
 
Fort Lewis improves to 13-6 overall and 10-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  They will face New Mexico Highlands Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Whalen Gymnasium.
