DURANGO, Colo. – Junior center
Alex Herrera recorded his 10
th double-double of the season - and his third straight - to lead the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 76-62 win over Western State Colorado University.
The win improves the Skyhawks to 16-9 overall and 13-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Herrera made 6-of-11 field goals and both free throw attempts for 14 points. He pulled down 12 caroms, blocked four shots and dished out three assists.
Senior guard
Nick Tomsick scored a game high 23 points. Tomsick sank 9-of-17 field goals, 3-of-7 three-point field goals and both free throws attempts. He added three rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes of action.
Cade Kloster notched nine points off the bench after making 3-of-5 field goals.
The Skyhawks dominated the boards, out-rebounding Western State by 17 (47-30). The Skyhawks recorded 32 of their points in the paint, compared to Western State's 20.
As a team, Fort Lewis made 29-fo-63 field goals for 46 percent.
Western State, which committed only six turnovers, was led by Jordan Adams' 22 points.
Fort Lewis will honor its four seniors tomorrow night against Colorado Mesa University:
