DENVER – September 26, 2014 – Metro State University of Denver remained undefeated in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Friday night as they handed the Fort Lewis College volleyball team a 3-1 loss at Auraria Event Center in Denver, Colo. The Skyhawks won set one, 25-22, but lost the next three by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-10.
The loss moves the Skyhawks to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners improve to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the league.
Courtney Harms made her first appearance of the season, accounting for 28 of the Skyhawks 33 set assists. Ashely Wells led the Skyhawk offense with 14 kills and a .276 hitting percentage (six errors, 29 total attempts). Wells, who recorded 15.5 points in the match, added 10 digs.
Ally Dell'Amico led the Skyhawks with 11 digs.
Fort Lewis hit .105 in the match with 36 kills, 23 errors and 124 attempts.
Metro State's Kylie Haun and Laurent Quijano posted a match high 16 kills each behind Brandi Toor's 47 assists.
Fort Lewis will wrap up its three match weekend Saturday night at Colorado School of Mines. The first serve will go out at 7 p.m. at Lockridge Gym.
