DURANGO, Colo. – September 28, 2014 – Despite not finding the back of the net for the second straight game, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team recorded their third straight shutout Sunday afternoon. Fort Lewis held Colorado State University – Pueblo to a 0-0 draw at Dirks Field.
The Skyhawks also held Friday's opponent, Western State Colorado University scoreless (T, 0-0) and New Mexico Highlands University scoreless (W, 1-0) last Sunday.
Fort Lewis moves to 2-3-3 on the year and 1-1-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games. The ThunderWolves are 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-2 in league games.
The Skyhawks totaled 23 shot attempts with seven landing on goal.
Jordan Hix led both teams with eight shots, three of which landed on goal.
Carolyn Archer and
Alicia Sanchez added four shots each, with three of Sanchez' shots on target.
A ThunderWolf foul in the box led to a penalty kick by Hix with 2:53 remaining in the second half, but Hix' attempt was saved by CSU-Pueblo's Jenn Rucker.
Three of the Skyhawks nine corner kicks in the game came in the second overtime period.
Caitlyn Espinosa improved her record to 2-3-2 overall and her third shutout of the season after making six saves in goal.
Fort Lewis will play their third straight game at home this Wednesday when they face Adams State University at 3 p.m.
