DURANGO, Colo. – January 10, 2015 – Senior forward
Kaile Magazzeni scored a career high 20 points Saturday night to lead the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team to a 64-52 win over Western New Mexico University in Whalen Gymnasium. Magazzeni's previous career high was 16 points (vs. Chadron State, Jan. 4, 2013).
The win marked the Skyhawks first weekend sweep of the season and their third straight win at home. FLC improves to 8-5 overall and 5-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mustangs fall to 6-7 overall and 4-6 in league games.
Fort Lewis jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led by 13 (18-5) at the 8:15 mark before the Mustangs closed the first half on a 20-8 run, cutting the Skyhawks lead to one at the break, 26-25. WNMU would grab their first and last lead of the game, 29-28, at the 17:53 mark in the second half before
Kate Bayes sank a jumper at 17:06 to give FLC the lead for the remainder of the game.
Magazzeni made 6-of-9 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws. She also pulled down a game high 10 rebounds, marking her second career double-double and first of the season.

Mary Brinton contributed 13 points, eight caroms, one block, one steal and one assist.
Michelle Turner, who made the Skyhawks lone three-point field goal, dished out a game high four assists.
The Skyhawks out-rebounded the Mustangs, 52-46, but the Mustangs stole the ball 13 times from the Skyhawks. FLC recorded eight steals and forced WNMU into 17 turnovers.
Fort Lewis out-scored Western New Mexico in the paint, 34-24, off of turnovers (19-9), second chance points (13-6), and bench points (24-14).
Ashley Mitchell tallied 10 points, five rebounds and four steals to lead the Mustangs.
The Skyhawks will play at Regis University of Jan. 16 and at MSU Denver on Jan. 17. Both games will tip off at 5 p.m.
