SPEARFISH, S.D. – January 3, 2015 – Solid shooting from the floor and the charity stripe led the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team to a 75-63 road win Saturday evening at Black Hills State University. The win was the Skyhawks third straight triumph and their third straight win on the road.

Bob Pietrack. "It was a very difficult road sweep considering how far we are from home. We are pleased to have won both games, and excited to get back to Durango and Whalen Gymnasium."
Fort Lewis improves to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Black Hills State drops to 4-10 overall and 2-6 in the league.
Black Hills State netted the first bucket of the game, but
Cade Kloster's three-point field goal at 18:51 gave the Skyhawks a 3-2 lead they would not relinquish. Fort Lewis took a 38-34 lead into the locker room at halftime after shooting 56 percent from the floor in the first half (23-of-44) and 60 percent from long range (6-of-10).
The Skyhawks finished the game making 9-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes and 36 seconds.
Will Morse scored five of his points in that time span after sinking 5-of-6 free throws.
Kloster was perfect from the floor in the first half, netting 4-of-4 field goals, 3-of-3 three-point field goals and 2-of-2 free throws for 13 points. He finished the game with 17 points after netting 6-of-7 field goals, all three three-point field goal attempts and both free throw attempts in 33 minutes of action.
Senior center
Alex Herrera posted his 10
th double-double of the season with a game high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Herrera made 8-of-16 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe. He also blocked three shots and dished out two assists.
Rasmus Bach chipped in 14 points to round out three Skyhawks scoring in double figures. Bach made 4-of-7 field goals and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. He also dished out a team high five assists.
For the game, Fort Lewis netted 52.3 percent from the floor (23-of-44), 46.2 percent from long range (6-of-13), and 76.7 percent from free throw line (23-of-30). The Skyhawks out-rebounded BHSU (39-27), and out-scored them in the paint (32-20).
Myles Henry led Black Hills State with 14 points and five rebounds.
The Skyhawks will play host to New Mexico Highlands University on Jan. 9 and Western New Mexico University on Jan. 10.
