DURANGO, Colo. – October 16, 2015 – For the first time in 49 games, the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team played to a double overtime tie. The Skyhawks tied the No. 8 team in the nation, Colorado School of Mines, 1-1 Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.
Both teams were scoreless in the first half before
Laurin Weiland gave FLC a 1-0 lead at 62:26. Weiland possessed the ball off an Orediggers turnover and dribbled the ball for 40 yards before knocking it down on center frame.
Ryan Leach took a throw in pass from Nikolaus Grotz at 79:58 to knot the game at 1-1 as both teams held each other scoreless for the next 30:02.
Both teams tallied 15 shots in regulation. FLC fired off seven shots in overtime to the Orediggers six shot attempts.
Elliot Chadderton made nine saves in 110 minutes between the posts.
Yannis Becker and
Raul Pescador each took four shot attempts. Pescador finished with three shots on goal.
The Skyhawks will play host to Colorado Christian University Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
