DURANGO, Colo. – October 18, 2015 – Fort Lewis College men's soccer head coach
Oige Kennedy recorded his 100
th career win Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field as the Skyhawks defeated Colorado Christian University, 4-1.
In seven years as head coach, Kennedy has compiled a career record of 100-34-7 (.734).
The Skyhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 31 minutes.
Laurin Weiland found
Tamino Kroeger in the far right side of the box for the first goal of the game at 19:14.
Weiland notched his second assist on
Yannis Becker's game-winning goal that was headed in at 23:50. Becker found the back of the net again at 31:25 when he cleaned up
Zac Lawrence's shot that was rebounded from the Cougars goalie save.
CCU prevented the shutout at 43:56 when John Weber scored the Cougars lone goal of the game.
In the 79
th minute,
Martin Lopez scored his third goal of the season off of a scramble in front of the box from the Skyhawks left side corner kick.
FLC rattled off 29 shots to the Cougars 12. Becker tallied a game high nine shots (five shots on goal). Kroeger added six shots (three on goal) and Weiland chipped in three shots (two on goal).
Schaul, who made his first appearance in goal since the season opening weekend, made three saves in 90 minutes.
FLC will travel to Colorado School of Mines next Friday night for a non-conference game at 7:30 p.m. The Skyhawks will then face the Cougars again in conference action in Lakewood at 11 a.m.
