DURANGO, Colo. – October 30, 2015 – MSU Denver posted a 2-1 win Friday afternoon over the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team to jump the Skyhawks in the league standings.
FLC held a one point advantage over the Roadrunners heading into today's game with 19 points, but the Roadrunners win today gives them 21 points heading into the final conference game of the season.
A foul inside the box at 9:42 resulted in a penalty kick for Josh Belfrage, who converted to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead. The goal was his seventh of the season and second successful penalty kick of the season.
After not playing in the first half,
Tamino Kroeger started the second half and tied the game at 1-1 just fifty seconds into the second half when
Zac Lawrence fed him a cross pass from the box.
MSU Denver took a 2-1 advantage they would keep the remainder of the game when Danny Arrubla connected with Jeff Gillis at 54:52.
The Roadrunners edged FLC on shots, 15-12, and shots on goal, 7-5.
Yannis Becker recorded a team high four shots and two shots on goal.
Elliot Chadderton made five saves in 90 minutes between the posts.
Fort Lewis will play their final regular season game on Sunday at home against UCCS. The Skyhawks, who have clinched a spot in the RMAC Tournament, will receive a seed in the tournament between No. 2 and No. 5.
