DURANGO, Colo. – December 12, 2015 –
Kate Bayes scored a season and game high 19 points to lead the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team to a 64-50 win Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium. The win improves the Skyhawks record to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Bayes made 7 of 9 field goals and 5 of 6 free throws to go with her four rebounds and steal.
Astrea Reed poured in 16 points, six rebounds, two steals, two blocks and dished out a game high five assists.
Mary Rambo added a game high seven rebounds and four steals.
Fort Lewis led for more than 30 minutes against the Cougars and only trailed CCU for 2:54.
Thirty of the Skyhawks 64 points came in the paint. FLC outscored CCU off of turnovers (10-5), second chance points (14-9), fast break points (18-4) and bench points (18-10).
Fort Lewis will play their final games of 2015 on the road Dec. 18-19 when they travel to Colorado State-Pueblo and Western State.
