DURANGO, Colo. – February 14, 2015 – The 15
th ranked team in the nation by the National Association of Basketball Coaches – University of Colorado Colorado Springs – came into Whalen Gymnasium Saturday night and handed the Fort Lewis College men's basketball team a 90-75 loss.
The Skyhawks drop to 17-7 overall and 12-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. UCCS improves to 20-4 overall and 14-4 in the conference.
Fort Lewis was out-scored in the second half by 11, 52-41, despite shooting 50 percent from the floor (16-of-32) in the half.
Alex Herrera led Fort Lewis with 27 points and 16 rebounds. Herrera made 12-of-20 field goals and 3-of-6 free throws.
Cade Kloster chipped in 14 points and four rebounds.
Rasmus Bach and
Will Morse each tallied 10 points and combined for four three-pointers.
Fort Lewis finished with 29-of-65 field goals and 16-of-23 free throws.
Derrick White led all scorers with 35 points. White made 10-of-16 field goals and 13-of-14 free throws.
Fort Lewis will play host to MSU Denver Friday, and Regis University on Saturday. Both games will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
