ALAMOSA, Colo. – March 15, 2015 – Freshman
Taylor Cabrera recorded her second straight hat trick Sunday afternoon at Adams State University as the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team defeated the Grizzlies, 15-2. The game marked the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener as FLC improves to 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in league games.
Cabrera, who was one of three Skyhawks to record hat tricks at Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday afternoon, added another three goals against the Grizzlies to bring her season total to a team high nine goals.
Rebecca Miller led the Skyhawks offensively with two goals and two assists. She added a team high three draw controls.
Jam Vertner added two goals and an assist for three points and
Ellie Carpenter tabbed one goal and two assists.
Eleven different Skyhawks scored a goal against the Grizzlies.
Mac Harper,
Alyssa Montoya,
Nikki Fry,
Becky Salamon and
Lauren Appenzeller all came off the bench to record their first goal of the season.
Sara McMahon picked up a team high four ground balls and
Carly Smoke added three.
Brie Walker earned her second straight win in goal after she made four saves in 47 minutes between the posts.
Ally Guerrero finished the game in goal as she saw 12 minutes of action.
The Skyhawks will continue their seven game road stance March 22 at Davenport, March 24 and Aquinas College, and March 26 at Grand Valley State.
