GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – September 10, 2015 – Angelo State University's Haley Mendel scored two first half goals to give the Fort Lewis College women's team their first loss of the season, 2-0. The Skyhawks and Rams faced each other on Walker Field on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo. The setback moves the Skyhawks to 1-1-1 on the season.
"We made a few tactical errors early in the first half that cost us the goals," said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "We had a quality effort in the second half but we couldn't find the goal for us."
The Skyhawks posted 10 shots in the game to the Rams' 11.
Jordan Hix notched a team high three shots and was one of four Skyhawks to land a shot on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Caitlyn Espinosa made eight saves in goals.
Fort Lewis will play No. 9 Dallas Baptist University in Grand Junction on Sunday at 2 p.m.
