DURANGO, Colo. – September 13, 2015 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team evened out their record to 2-2-0 after charting a 2-1 win over non-conference opponent St. Mary's University Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field. FLC opened their home season on Friday with a 2-0 win over West Texas A&M University.
Both teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first 45 minutes of action.
Raul Pescador netted his first career goal at 59:12 when he received a back pass from
Yannis Becker.
Victor Luna knotted the game in the 75
th minute on an attack from the top of the box.
Becker's first goal of the season proved to be the game-winning goal when he headed it in from Zak Lawrence's assist.
FLC edged the Rattlers on shot attempts, 18-14, and shots on goal, 9-6.
Austin Derksen and Becker led the Skyhawks with four shots each. All four of Becker's shots landed on goal.
Elliot Chadderton made five saves for his second career win.
Fort Lewis will open conference play on Friday at Regis University, followed by their first ever match up at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
