Elliot Chadderton recorded his second career shutout while
Zac Lawrence and
Tamino Kroeger posted season firsts as the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team defeated Regis University, 2-0, Friday afternoon. The road win was the first game of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season.
With the win, Fort Lewis improves to 3-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league games. It also marks their third straight win of the season.
Chadderton made five saves in 90 minutes between the posts to improve to 3-1-0.
Yannis Becker found
Zac Lawrence at 26:40 for the game winning goal. The assist was Becker's second of the season while Lawrence's goal was his first of the season.
At 63:12,
Tamino Kroeger sealed the win when he found the back of the net for the first time this season.
Becker posted a team high five shots with two landing on goal. Austin Derkesen and Lawrence followed with four shots each and three shots on goal.
As a team, the Skyhawks tallied 21 shots (11 shots on goal), and held the Rangers to 11 shots (nine on goal).
Fort Lewis will travel to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The match will mark the first game ever between the two teams.
