Men's Soccer Scores Five in OT at South Dakota Mines

RAPID CITY, S.D. – September 20, 2015 – Freshman Andres Lopez scored his first career college points Sunday afternoon to help the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team earn a 5-4 overtime win at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
 
The win was the Skyhawks fourth straight as they improve to 4-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Hardrockers drop to 0-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in league games.  This is the first time the two teams have faced each other.  The 2015-16 season is the first season SDSMT is a full member of the RMAC.
 
Lopez scored the first goal of the game from Dana Kowachek's assist at 12:10.  The rest of the first half remained scoreless as FLC took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
SDSMT matched every goal the Skyhawks scored in regulation.  Both teams found the back of the net a total of three times within 116 seconds of action.  Michale Mcgraw tied the game at 47:24 before Zac Lawrence found Sean Cleary 39 seconds later for a 2-1 FLC lead.  Seventy-seven seconds later Brandon Lind tied the game for the second time of the afternoon with a goal at 49:20.
 
Tamino Kroeger, who came off the bench, scored his first of two goals at 69:17 to give FLC a 3-2 lead. 
 
SDSMT tied the game at 73:16 before Yannis Becker gave the Skyhawks their fourth lead of the game, 4-3, when he converted on a penalty kick.  The Hardrockers answered with a penalty kick of their own at 89:05 to send the game into overtime, 4-4, with 55 seconds left in regulation.
 
Lopez found Kroeger at 95:43 for the game-winning goal.
 
Sunday's overtime game was the Skyhawks first of the season
 
Kroeger finished with four points on three shots.  Coleman Kane and Becker each tallied four shots.
 
The Skyhawks outshot the Hardrockers, 23-11, and amassed 12 shots on goal to SDSMT's seven shots.
 
Elliot Chadderton posted his third win of the season in goal to move to 3-1 overall.
 
The Skyhawks will return home to play host to Adams State University at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a home game against Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday at 3 p.m.
