Espinosa Becomes FLC All-Time Shutouts Leader

Women's Soccer defeats CSU-Pueblo, 3-0

Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. – September 18, 2015 – Senior goalkeeper Caitlyn Espinosa stopped all four shots on goal Friday night to lead the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Colorado State University-Pueblo.  With the win, Espinosa recorded her 24th career shutout at FLC, becoming the all-time leader in shutouts.
 
Friday's game was the first of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season.  The Skyhawks improve to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league games.
 
Shayla Malecki recorded the game-winning goal at 39:41.  Alicia Sanchez took a free kick which was saved by the ThunderWolves goalkeeper.  Malecki picked up the rebound off of the save to score and give FLC a 1-0 lead.
 
Sanchez gave the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead on her first goal of the season at 50:57.  Forty-nine seconds later Jordan Hix added another insurance goal to seal the win, 3-0.  The goal was Hix' first since 2013.
 
Both teams were even on shots with eight each, as well as four shots each on goal.  Sanchez and Hix accounted for three shots each.
 
The Skyhawks will travel to New Mexico Highlands University on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
