Women’s Soccer Wins First Meeting against Griffins

DURANGO, Colo. – September 27, 2015 – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team faced Westminster College (Utah) for the first time in school history Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field.  The Skyhawks won the inaugural meeting, 2-1.
 
For the second straight game, Alicia Sanchez scored the game-winning goal for the Skyhawks.  She gained possession of the ball from Brooke Milliet's throw in.  Sanchez dribbled through the defense and took a shot outside of the box near the top left corner.
 
Milliet also recorded an assist on the first goal of the game.  She fed a pass to Shayla Malecki who found the back of the net for her second goal of the season at 11:05 in the first half.  Thirty-one seconds later McKell Kellogg tied the game for Westminster.
 
FLC outshot the Griffins, 10-8.  Both teams took four shots on goal.
 
The Skyhawks (5-2-1, 3-1-0 RMAC) will play host to Western State Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.
