Renee Terrell's first career collegiate goal came Saturday morning with 54 seconds left in regulation. The goal tied the Fort Lewis College women's soccer game against Texas Woman's University, 1-1. Both teams were held scoreless in the following 20 minutes to end the game, 1-1.
"It was a good result in the end," said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "We played really well. We were much better today with combinations and the defense played much better."
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead at 46:49 from Natalia Diaz who converted on a penalty kick.
Jordan Hix found Terrell in the right corner inside the box to tie the game at 89:06.
Caitlyn Espinosa made six saves in a110 minutes between the posts.
Fort Lewis posted 10 shots to TWU's 14 shots. The Pioneers edged the Skyhawks on shots on goal, 7-6.
Shayla Malecki led FLC with a three shots (two shots on goal).
The tie moves the Skyhawks to 1-0-1 on the season.
The Skyhawks will travel to Grand Junction Sept. 10 and Sept. 12 to face Angelo State University and Dallas Baptist University at CMU Walker Field.
