AUSTIN, Texas – September 6, 2015 – Facing their the second straight nationally ranked opponent on the road, the Fort Lewis College men's team suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 12 St. Edward's University Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas.
After Friday's 3-1 loss to #20 Midwestern State University, Fort Lewis drops to 0-2-0 on the season.
Both teams were held scoreless for nearly 80 minutes before SEU's Jack Blanton scored the game-winning goal at 79:20. Blanton's goal was scored with St. Edward's playing one man down. Both teams received a red card at 71:04 and play 10 vs. 10 until SEU received their second red card of the game at 76:41.
The Hilltoppers edged Fort Lewis in shots, 8-6, but FLC tabbed five shots on goal to SEU's four.
Nicolas Perez led FLC's offense with two shots, both of which landed on goal.
Ryan Schaul played the first 71:02 in goal and made three saves.
Elliot Chadderton finished the final 18:58 minutes in goal for FLC.
The Skyhawks will open their home season this Friday and Sunday against West Texas A&M University and St. Mary's University.
