WBB | Second Half Surge Snaps Streak at Westminster

SALT LAKE CITY – January 16, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team snapped a three game losing streak Saturday night after defeating Westminster College on the road, 72-62.  The Skyhawks outscored the Griffins in the second half by 12, 39-27.  With tonight's win, the Skyhawks move to 9-7 overall and 5-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"Tonight was a test of our character as a team with it being the fourth game of this road trip and being down in the second half," said head coach Jason Flores.  "We came together with a lot of toughness to pull away and get the win."

Astrea Reed led all scorers with 16 points after making 7 of 11 from the floor.  Emily McCue came off the bench to add 13 points.  Alyssa Yocky pulled down 10 rebounds to go with her five points.

Despite shooting only 22.2 percent from long range (4 of 18), the Skyhawks shot a solid 48.1 percent from the floor, sinking 26 of 54 field goals.
