Strong Shooting Performance Lifts Skyhawks to Home Win

DURANGO, Colo. – January 22, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team shot a solid 56.4 percent Friday night in a 92-68 home win over Western New Mexico University.  They nearly shot as well from three-point range, sinking 56.3 percent from behind the arc (9 of 16).

The 31 of 55 made field goals resulted in the second highest field goal shooting percentage this season for the Skyhawks, and the 92 are the most they've scored in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game.

Three Skyhawks recorded double-digits in scoring.  Dallas Dickerson came off the bench to lead FLC with 15 points after making 5 of 6 field goals and all three three-point field goals.  Alyssa Yocky netted 11 points in 16 minutes, and also made 5 of 6 field goals.  Astrea Reed hit 4 of 6 field goals and both free throw attempts for 10 points.  Freshman guard Sydni Brandon led both teams with 10 rebounds to go with her four assists.

FLC led the entire game as they improved their record to 10-7 overall and 6-6 in RMAC games. Fort Lewis' bench outscored WNMU, 54-20.

The Skyhawks will play host to New Mexico Highlands University Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.
