DURANGO, Colo. – October 23, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team earned a key win Sunday afternoon after defeating Colorado School of Mines, 1-0, at Dirks Field.
The Skyhawks entered the game trailing the Orediggers by one conference point (23-22). FLC improves to 9-6-1 overall and 8-3-1 (25 points) in the league. CSM moves to 8-5-3 overall and 7-3-2 (23 points) in the RMAC.
The lone goal of the game was scored by
Churchill Onumonu at 10:05.
Dana Kowachek fed Onumonu the ball from the right side who then fired it on goal. The score was Onumonu's team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Both teams notched 16 shot attempts. CSM posted six shots on target to the Skyhawks five shots.
Tamino Kroeger came off the bench to lead the Skyhawks with four shots and two shots on goal.
Elliot Chadderton made six saves in goal to pick up his ninth win of the season and fifth shutout.
The Skyhawks will play their final two games of the regular season on the road at UCCS on Friday and at MSU Denver on Sunday.
