DURANGO, Colo. – October 23, 2016 –
Courtney Riley's goal in the 22
nd minute gave the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team a 1-0 lead for 45 minutes before Adams State University knotted the game at 1-1. Both team's ended Sunday's game in a 1-1 double overtime tie at Dirks Field.
The tie, which was the first for the Skyhawks in league play, moves them to 6-6-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. ASU is now 7-6-1 overall and 4-5-1 in league games.
Riley's goal, her second of the year, came from a set corner kick play after
Carolyn Archer attempted a shot on goal that Riley cleaned up for a 1-0 lead at 21:19.
Lourdes Padilla scored the equalizer at 67:46 after a scrum in front of the Skyhawks goal.
The Skyhawks tallied 20 shots to the Grizzlies, including 6-3 shots on goal.
Renee Terrell and
Carolyn Archer posted four shots each for the Skyhawks.
Kaylee Mickens made two saves in 110 minutes between the posts. Mickens is 4-2-1 in goal this season.
The Skyhawks will play host to Colorado School of Mines on Friday at 3 p.m., and Colorado Christian University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the final games of the regular season.
