Seven Skyhawks Score in Shutout Win over ASU, 7-0

DURANGO, Colo. – October 5, 2016 – Seven different Fort Lewis College men's soccer players scored a goal Wednesday afternoon in a 7-0 win over Adams State University at Dirks Field.  The win was the Skyhawks second straight shutout win of the season (W, 1-0 at Westminster on Oct. 2).
 
FLC improves to 6-5-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Adams State University drops to 4-7-0 overall and 1-6-0 in league games.
 
The last time FLC scored seven goals in a game was Nov. 3, 2013 in a 7-0 win at Colorado Christian University.
 
Ty Lang scored his first goal of the season just 3:31 into the game.  Dana Kowachek assisted Lang on the goal who fired a shot from the right wing into the bottom left corner of the net for the game-winning goal.
 
Nicolas Perez took a shot from 20 yards out into the top right corner of the net at 14:41.  Salifu Jatta and Coleman Kane assisted Sean Cleary who headed the ball in from a corner kick set at 23:36. Thirty-five seconds later Tamino Kroeger found the back of the net when he took a shot from the top of the box, giving FLC a 4-0 lead at the half.
 
Salifu Jatta opened the second half on a sliding kick just seven yards in front of the goal from Nicolas Perez' assist, 90 seconds into the half.
 
Marcos Hernandez-Hipolito put his name in the scoring column at 85:03 on a jump kick goal inside the box.  Churchill Onumonu finished the game with his team-leading sixth goal of the season at 86:11.
 
FLC outshot the Grizzlies, 22-3, and only allowed two shots on goal.
 
Cleary and Andres Lopez each posted three shot attempts, with all of them landing on goal.
 
The Skyhawks will play host to Colorado State-Pueblo Friday at 3 p.m. in the Skyhawks Homecoming Game.
