Women’s Basketball Returns from Break to Host RMAC Opener

UPCOMING GAMES
The undefeated Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will return to the hardcourt this weekend after a 13-day break from competition.  The Skyhawks will play host to No. 12 Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
 
NOTES
The Skyhawks are off to a 4-0 start this season after wins against UT-Permian Basin, Eastern New Mexico University, Western New Mexico University and Northern New Mexico College.
 
FLC leads NCAA Division II with 36 defensive rebounds per game.  The Skyhawks lead the RMAC and are ninth in Division II in three-point field goal defense (20.0 percent), and FLC is second in the RMAC and seventh in Division II in field goal percentage defense (30.2 percent).
 
Alyssa Yocky leads three Skyhawks in double figure scoring with 13.3 points per game. She also leads the team in free throw percentage (85.7 percent) after making 12-of-14.
 
Kaitlyn Romero is a threat from long range after making 50 percent of her attempts (8-of-16). 
 
Briana Clah has dished out a team high 19 assists and recorded a team high seven steals.
 
SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES
Colorado State-Pueblo is ranked No. 12 in this week's WBCA Division II poll.  The ThunderWolves are 6-0 overall and have played their last four games at home.
 
CSU-Pueblo leads the league in free throw percentage (83.9 percent), scoring (80.2 points per game), three-point field goals per game (8.8) and three-point field goal percentage (39.8).
 
Tuileisu Anderson leads all players with 20 points per game.  Molly Rohrer has blocked a league best 16 shots this season.
 
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
New Mexico Highlands University enters the weekend with a 1-2 record.  NMHU dropped games to Roger State and Eastern New Mexico University, but defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State.
 
The Cowgirls are averaging 53.3 points per game and are being outscored by 9.3 points per game. 
 
Kaylani Maiaya leads the offense with 11.7 points per game.  Mele Tupouata is the top rebounder for NMHU with 6.0 rebounds per game.
 
UP NEXT
FLC will travel up the Western Slope Dec. 9-10 to play at Colorado Mesa University and Western State Colorado University.
