The Fort Lewis College women's basketball team will travel to Portales, N.M. this weekend for the Eastern New Mexico University Regional Challenge. FLC will open the season against Texas-Permian Basin on Friday at 11 a.m., before playing host team ENMU on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Skyhawks were picked eighth in the 2016-17 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Basketball preseason poll.
Senior guard
Astrea Reed was one of 10 RMAC student-athletes voted to the preseason team.
FLC finished eighth in the conference in 2015-16 with a 13-9 league record and competed in the RMAC Tournament championship game at CSU-Pueblo. The Skyhawks 19-11 overall record marked their 14
th straight winning season.
FLC returns one starter from last season (Reed), and three letterwinners (Reed,
Alyssa Yocky,
Ande Lampert). Aside from three redshirts from last season (
Delaney Sain,
Kayla Herrera,
Payton Shahan), the Skyhawks welcome nine new players to the program –

Alannah Forde,
Olivia Gray,
Jordyn Lewis,
Shelby Patterson,
Kaitlyn Romero, Natalie Stillwell.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Texas-Permian Basin enters the season with a preseason ranking of ninth out of 11 teams in the Lone Star Conference in the preseason coaches' poll. The Falcons finished the 2015-16 campaign with a 6-23 overall record (2-16 conference). UTPB's leading scorer from last year returns this season. Niniva Taito averaged 13.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 2015-16.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico was picked seventh (tied) in the Lone Star Conference in the preseason coaches' poll. ENMU is coming off a 10-17 record last season (5-11 LSC). They are led by Kassandra Harris who averaged 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

The Skyhawks will travel to Western New Mexico University on Monday for a 5 p.m. non-conference game. FLC will then open their home season on Saturday, Nov. 19 against Northern New Mexico at 5:30 p.m.
