No. 12 ThunderWolves Hand Skyhawks First Loss of the Season

DURANGO, Colo. – December 2, 2016 – The No. 12 team in NCAA Division II handed the Fort Lewis College women's basketball team their first loss of the season Friday night at Whalen Gymnasium.  Colorado State-Pueblo improved to 7-0 on the year with a 79-56 win over the Skyhawks in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season opener.
 
The loss is the first of the season for the Skyhawks as the move to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the RMAC.
 
Alyssa Yocky hit his first of two three-pointers just 78 seconds into the game to give FLC a 5-4 lead.  It would be the Skyhawks last lead of the game as the Pack went on a 12-0 run, holding the Skyhawks scoreless for three and a half minutes.
 
FLC trailed 46-25 at the half and 70-37 heading into the final stanza.  The Skyhawks mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pack 19-9.
 
Fort Lewis was held to 27.1 percent from the floor, making 16-of-59, and 23.8 percent from long range on 5-of-21 attempts.  The Skyhawks attempted 11 more free throws than the Pack, making 19-of-23 for 82.6 percent.  CSUP hit 5-of-11 free throws but out-rebound FLC by eight, 47-39.
 
Natalie Stilwell came off the bench to lead FLC with 11 points.  Ande Lampert added 10 points and six rebounds.  Yocky finished with six rebounds and six points.
 
The Pack blocked six shots and added eight steals defensively.  CSUP posted 32 points in the paint to the Skyhawks six.
 
Four ThunderWolves scored at least 10 points with Jaszymn Johnson leading all scorers with 16 points.
 
FLC will play host to New Mexico Highlands University Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.
