Rasmus Bach's game high 27 points and
Joshua Blaylock's 23 points, the 20
th-ranked Fort Lewis College men's basketball team won their eighth straight game Friday night at Colorado Mesa University, 89-72. FLC improves to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"Road wins are so important in the RMAC," said head coach
Bob Pietrack. "This was a great road win for us tonight. The trip is only half over and we need to be ready for tomorrow night."
FLC led for almost 38 minutes and grabbed their largest lead of the game of 22 points (89-67) with 1:22 left in regulation. FLC's 17 point win is the largest win in Grand Junction since 2003 (66-49).
Fort Lewis hit 30-of-61 field goals (49.2 percent) and 37.5 percent from long range (9-of-24).
The Skyhawks outrebounded CMU by 10, 38-28, and forced CMU into 16 turnovers while committing only 10.
Bach hit 11-of-15 field goals and all four free throw attempts for 27 points. Nine of Blaylock's points came from behind the arc while he netted 6-of-6 free throws.
Daniel Hernandez came off the bench to score 12 points.
Alex Semadeni rounded out the Skyhawks scoring in double figures with 11 points. Semadeni made 5-of-6 field goals and pulled down eight rebounds.
Brandon Wilson chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.
Fort Lewis will continue their road trip at Western State Colorado University Saturday at 7 p.m.
