DURANGO, Colo. – February 12, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College men's basketball team, ranked No. 10 in this week's NABC Division II poll, became the first team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to clinch a playoff berth. The Skyhawks earned a trip to the RMAC tournament after defeating Western State Colorado University, 86-61, Friday night in Whalen Gymnasium. The win comes on the same night the court was dedicated to former FLC head coach
Bob Hofman.
With tonight's win, FLC improves to 20-3 overall and 15-3 in the RMAC. They are undefeated at home, 12-0. The 20-3 record is the best start in school history.
Joshua Blaylock tied for game high honors with 18 points after making 7-of-11 field goals and dishing out seven assists.
Cade Kloster added 15 points and
Will Morse tallied 13 points to go with his four assists and five rebounds.
FLC finished the night sinking 29-of-62 field goals for 46.8 percent and 18-of 21 free throws for 85.7 percent. The Skyhawks shot 11 more free throws than WSCU, and out-rebounded the Mountaineers by 10, 42-32.
Fort Lewis will face Colorado State University-Pueblo Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Whalen Gymnasium.
