Sara McMahon and
Taylor Cabrera each recorded hat tricks Wednesday afternoon to lead the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team to a home opening win over Oklahoma Baptist University, 18-2.
Ten Skyhawks found the back of the net against the Bison with McMahon leading all scorers with four goals. Cabrera tallied six points against the Bison with three goals and three assists.
Today's game marked the fourth time in six games this season FLC has had at least two players record a hat trick in the same game.
Fort Lewis led the entire game and went into halftime with a 14-2 lead.
Nikki Fry notched her first multi goal game of the season and the second of her career with two goals against OBU.
Jam Vertner and
Ellie Carpenter each chipped in two goals apiece.
Becky Salamon scored the final goal of the game at 2:03 on a free position shot, making it her first goal of the year.
Alyssa Spencer earned her fourth win in goal after making five saves in nearly 50 minutes of action.
FLC outshot OBU, 42-10, including 31-5 in the first half. The Skyhawks added 21 ground balls to the Bison's 12, and won 16 of 22 draw controls.
The Skyhawks (4-2, 1-1 RMAC) will travel to Regis University Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
