COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – March 19, 2016 – The 16
th ranked team in the NCAA Division II, Regis University, defeated the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., 13-8.
The Rangers outscored FLC in the first half, 6-4, and 7-4 in the second half.
Kelli Warmouth and
Brooke Galle came off the bench to score a team high two goals each. Galle added an assist for three points.
Carly Smoke,
Jam Vertner,
Ryann Pierce and
Ellie Carpenter each tallied one goal against the Rangers. Vertner attempted a team high six shots.
Megan Longtain and
Nikki Fry picked up three ground balls each, and Carpenter won three draw controls.
The Rangers outshot the Skyhawks, 27-22, and won 14 draw controls to the Skyhawks nine.
FLC tied the game twice in the first half but never held the lead.
Alyssa Spencer played all 60 minutes in goal, allowing 13 goals and making five saves.
The Skyhawks will play at Westminster College on Thursday at 4 p.m. before facing Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction on Saturday at 1 p.m.
