GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – March 26, 2016 – For the first times in school history, the Fort Lewis College women's lacrosse team fell to Colorado Mesa University. The Skyhawks dropped an 8-6 decision Saturday afternoon at Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
The Skyhawks move to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mavericks improve to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in league games. FLC leads the all-time series against CMU with a 13-1 record and a 6-1 record on CMU's home field.
Three players scored all six goals for the Skyhawks, who never led against the Mavericks.
Brooke Galle,
Ryann Pierce and
Rebecca Miller each scored two goals for FLC.
Alyssa Spencer made 10 saves in 60 minutes between the posts.
FLC outshot the Mavericks, 29-24 and picked up six more ground balls (17-11), but the Mavericks won 11 of 16 draw controls.
The Skyhawks will play their final five games of the regular season at home, beginning April 3 with a non-conference match against Westminster College at 1 p.m.
