WICHITA FALLS, Texas – September 10, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team played their final two matches on Saturday at the Midwestern State University Invitational. FLC lost both matches to Southern Nazarene (L, 3-0) and Emporia State University (L, 3-2). Sophomore
Matisse Monty was named to the All-Tournament Team.
In the morning match against Southern Nazarene, Monty tallied 11 kills and five digs.
Kendra Swackenberg posted 27 of the team's 29 assists, and added two aces and 11 digs.
Bailey Longacre led the team with three block assists.
Against ESU in the tournament finale,
Hannah Martinez led the Skyhawks with 14 kills and a .174 hitting percentage to go with 14 digs. Monty added 13 kills, six aces and 16 digs, while Longacre contributed 10 kills.
Maddie LeBlanc helped the Skyhawks with their nine team kills after assisting on a match high six.
Monty was named to the MSU All-Tournament team after recording 2.53 kills per set with a .148 hitting mark, eight aces, 35 digs and four blocks.
FLC will open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season next weekend on the road. The Skyhawks will play at South Dakota Mines on Friday at 7 p.m., and at Black Hills State University on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
