DURANGO, Colo. – September 16, 2016 – Junior defender
Alex Tillberry notched the game-winning goal Friday afternoon against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to give the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team to a 2-1 overtime win at Dirks Field.
Tillberry's goal was scored one minute into the extra period.
Salifu Jatta found Tillberry who blasted the ball from 30 yards out into the back of the net.
With the win, FLC improves to 2-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The loss drops the Hardrockers to 0-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league games.
After a scoreless first half, the Hardrockers netted the first goal of the game at 50:31 by Lane Schroeder.
Coleman Kane, who played in his first game of the season today, knotted the game in the 80
th minute when he headed the ball in from
Dana Kowachek's corner kick.
Elliot Chadderton recorded his second straight win in goal. The Skyhawks defense held South Dakota Mines to six goals and one shot on goal.
FLC dominated the offense, out shooting the Hardrockers, 29-6, and 17-1 shots on goal. FLC also notched 12 more corner kicks, 14-2.
The Skyhawks will be back in action on Sunday when they play host to No. 12 Regis University at 2:30 p.m.
