Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Sarah Meier, Assistant Athletic Director

Women’s Soccer Outlasts Cowgirls, 2-1

DURANGO, Colo. – September 18, 2016 – Shayla Malecki netted her fourth goal of the season with three minutes and eight seconds left in regulation to give the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over New Mexico Highlands University Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field. 
 
FLC improves to 3-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Cowgirls drop to 0-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the RMAC.
 
Anyssa Dagnino netted the first goal of the game two minutes into he second half.  Cooper Sanchez knotted the game at 59:53 on a penalty kick for her second goal this season.
 
Freshman Britt Blomso played all 90 minutes in goal, making 11 saves.
 
FLC outshot the Cowgirls, 17-14, but NMHU landed 13 of their shots on frame to the Skyhawks eight. 
 
Malecki notched a team high four shots and three shots on goal.
 
FLC will travel to Denver next weekend to play at Regis on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and at MSU Denver on Sunday at 12 p.m.
