Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Sarah Meier, Assistant Athletic Director

WSOC | Rangers Shut Down Skyhawks, 1-0

DENVER – September 23, 2016 – Regis University picked up their first win of the season Friday afternoon after out-shooting the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team, 15-5.  The loss was the first of the season for the Skyhawks in league play as they move to 3-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"It was a weird game; the girls energy level looked low," said head coach Jimmy Hall.  "There was that moment in the second half where I knew one of us was going to score.  They gave up some really close opportunities and I think their kids made a couple mistakes and we could have scored.  On their third counter attack they scored.  I know we're better and I know that we can do more.  We need to reset and move onto Sunday's game."

Tori Rinsem scored the game-winning goal on a cross pass from Maggie Saras at 57:59.

Two of the Skyhawks five shot attempts landed on goal.  Courtney Riley accounted for two shot attempts to lead the Skyhawks offense.

Britt Blomso made two saves in goal and played the first 42 minutes before Kaylee Mickens entered the game.  Mickens made two saves and allowed one goal in the final 48 minutes.

The Skyhawks will play at MSU Denver on Sunday at 12 p.m.
