NOTES
The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team opened their home season this past weekend against Colorado State-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands University.  The Skyhawks defeated the Pack in double overtime, 3-2, before posting a 2-1 win on Sunday over the Cowgirls.
 
FLC is 1-0-1 in overtime games this season.
 
Shayla Malecki leads the RMAC in points (eight) and goals (four), and she is second in game-winning goals (two).  Freshman goalkeeper Britt Blomso is fourth in the league in goals against average (0.64) and fifth in saves percentage (.889).
 
THIS WEEK
FLC will travel to Denver to start a four game road swing.  The Skyhawks will face Regis on Friday at 4:30 p.m. followed by MSU Denver on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
Both teams enter the weekend with a 0-2-0 RMAC record.  Combined, the Rangers and Roadrunners are 1-8-3 overall and 0-4-0 in the RMAC.
 
THE SERIES
The Rangers lead the all-time series over the Skyhawks with a 29-11-4 record.  RU is on a two game winning streak.  The Skyhawks are 4-14-2 at Regis.  The last time FLC defeated the Rangers on the road was Oct. 3, 2008 (W, 4-3, OT).
 
MSU Denver has won 25 of the 48 matches against FLC.  FLC is 2-1-1 in their last four meetings, and last defeated the Roadrunners on the road on Oct. 25, 2013 (W, 2-1).  The Skyhawks are 5-13-5 when playing at MSU Denver.
 
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Regis University opened the RMAC season with two setbacks against Colorado Christian University and Colorado School of Mines.  The Rangers, 0-5-1, opened the season with a tie against Midwestern State University but have lost the last five games.  RU has been out-scored, 14-5.
 
Regis ranks fifth in the league in shots (78), and 10th in points (13), assists (three), and goals against average (2.20).  The Rangers own a 0-1-1 record at home this season.
 
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
MSU Denver is currently on a two game losing streak after falling to Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University to open the conference season.  They are second in the league in saves (46), seventh in assists (four) and goals against (seven), ninth in shots (63), and 11th in points (11) and goals.
 
MSU Denver boasts a 1-0-1 record this season at the Regency Athletic Complex.
 
2015 WRAPUP
The Skyhawks finished the 2015 season with a double overtime 0-0 tie against St. Edward's University in San Angelo, Texas in the NCAA Women's Soccer South Central Region First Round game.  SEU advanced to the second round on penalty kicks.  Last year's NCAA tournament berth was the sixth time in program history FLC competed in the NCAA post-season.
 
MEET THE TEAM
FLC returns eight starters from last year's NCAA qualifying team (Alicia Sanchez, Shayla Malecki, Courtney Riley, Carolyn Archer, Haleigh Macomb, Keisha Green, Andra Thaden and Dayli Schmieder).  Starters Brooke Milliet, Jordan Hix and Caitlyn Espinosa are not returning after graduating last year.
 
PRESEAON HONORS
After finishing second overall in the 2015 regular season standings, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team is picked to finish second in the 2016 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason poll. The Skyhawks earned 128 points behind the league favorite Colorado School of Mines.  FLC also received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America preseason poll.  The Skyhawks finished the 2015 season second in the league with an 8-2-1 league record (12-5-4). 
 
PROVEN COACH
Head coach Jimmy Hall is in his third year leading the Skyhawks women's soccer program.  In only his second year as head coach, Hall was named the RMAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.  In three years, Hall has notched an overall record of 18-13-9 and a league mark of 15-7-5.  Hall returned to his alma mater as assistant women's soccer coach in 2011 and is in his sixth year with the women's program. The former Skyhawk soccer standout has deep roots in the Durango soccer community and coaching experience at the collegiate, high school and club levels.
 
ON THE AIR
The legendary voice of the Skyhawks, John Mahoney, returns for his 12th season calling Skyhawks soccer games on the air.  Mahoney will be reunited with Phil Duke who is returning after a seven year hiatus.  Mahoney and Duke will call all Skyhawks men's and women's soccer home games.  Fans can watch all home soccer games for free on Stretch Internet and listen to Mahoney and Duke via the free video stream and on the air at KIUP AM 930, 97.3 FM and www.radiodurango.com.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
FLC will stay on the road next weekend as they travel to UCCS on Sept. 30 and Western State Colorado University on Oct. 2.
