LUBBOCK, Texas – September 3, 2016 – Playing Lubbock Christian University for the first time in program history, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team was shutout on the road by the Chaps, 1-0. The game marked the season opener for the Skyhawks.
"It was a fantastic game of soccer," said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "I thought the team played very well. We created lots of opportunities and even scored a goal that was called back. The team did a great job and Lubbock scored a really good counterattacking goal. I think we were the best team on the field but they did score a very good goal on the counter and unfortunately we walk away without the result that we needed."

th minute for the final 1-0 result.
Both teams attempted 12 shots in the game with the Skyhawks edging LCU 6-5 with shots on goal.
