Men’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Mavericks

DURANGO, Colo. – September 30, 2016 – The league's leading goal scorer broke an 81 minute scoring drought to hand the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team a 1-0 loss Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.  The setback drops the Skyhawks to 4-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
Roy Abergil of Colorado Mesa University netted his 11th goal of the season on a cross pass from Moshe Perez at 81:16 for the game's only goal.
 
CMU out-shot the Skyhawks in the first half, 10-5, but FLC posted seven more shots in the second half, 11-4. 
 
Salifu Jatta led both teams with five shots, followed by Laurin Weiland's four shots.
 
The Skyhawks landed three of their 16 shots on goal, while CMU posted seven of their 14 shots on goal.
 
Elliot Chadderton made six saves as he moves to 4-4-0 in-between the posts this season.
 
Fort Lewis will travel to Westminster College Sunday afternoon to face the Griffins at 1 p.m.
