Mavericks Hand Men's Soccer 5-1 Road Loss

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – September 4, 2016 – Tamino Kroeger scored his first goal of the season to give the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team a 1-0 lead Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Colorado Mesa University.  The Mavericks responded to score five straight goals while handing FLC a 5-1 loss at Walker Field.
 
Kevin Del Mazo knotted the game at 11:38.  Trentin Atkin scored the game-winning goal at 24:24 before Roy Abergil and Atkin scored two goals within two minutes.
 
FLC headed into halftime trailing 4-1.  The final goal of the game was scored by Abergil at 81:12.
 
Salifu Jatta accounted for three of the Skyhawks six shot attempts.  Jatta, Kroeger, Raul Pescador and Dana Kowachek each landed one shot on goal.
 
Elliot Chadderton played the first 45 minutes in goal, allowing four goals and making two saves.  Jack Jordan saw his first action of the season between the posts, making five saves and allowing one goal in the second half.
 
The Mavericks fired off 18 shots against the Skyhawks with 12 landing on goal.
 
FLC will continue their three-game road swing in Texas.  The Skyhawks will play at St. Edward's University on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a 12 p.m. match at St. Mary's University.
