COLORADO SPRINGS – January 7, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College women's basketball winning streak came to an end at seven games Saturday night as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs recorded a 75-71 win at the Gallogly Events Center in Colorado Springs.
FLC, which suffered only their third loss of the season (12-3, 7-3 RMAC), trailed by eight points with 32 seconds left in regulation, 73-65.
Briana Clah drained a three-pointer nine seconds later to bring FLC within five points. After a FLC timeout,
Kaitlyn Romero stole the ball and converted a three-point play to cut UCCS' lead down to 73-71 with 11 ticks left in the game. Forced to foul UCCS, the Mountain Lions went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe to seal the win, 75-71.
Three Skyhawks scored in double figures with
Alyssa Yocky leading the team with 19 points. Yocky hit three three-pointers and six free throws as part of her 19 points. She added eight rebounds and two steals.
Brian Clah contributed 15 points, two steals and made all four free throws.
Shelby Patterson chipped in 13 points and a game high four assists.
FLC will return home Jan. 13-14 to start a four game home stand. The Skyhawks will play host to Black Hills State and South Dakota School of Mines. Both games will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
