DURANGO, Colo. – October 13, 2017 –
Jackie Strom and
Ally Holloway recorded their first goals of the season to lead the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Colorado Mesa University Friday afternoon at Dirks Field.
The win was the Skyhawks third straight win as they improve to 4-6-1 overall and 4-4-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mavericks fall to 6-7-0 overall and 3-5-0 in league games.
Mia Castaneda found Strom in the fifth minute of the game. Strom's first shot attempt was saved off the goalkeeper but bounced back into play where Strom finished the goal.
Holloway's game-winning goal came 94 seconds into the second half when she nailed a shot from 30 yards out into the top right corner of the net.
CMU put a goal on the scoreboard by Alexis Allard at 79:08.
Senior
Alicia Sanchez added an insurance goal with less than four minutes left in regulation from
Ally Eller's pass. Sanchez shot a grounder into the back of the net from eight yards out.
Colorado Mesa edged Fort Lewis on shot attempts, 15-14.
Strom led both teams with five shots and three shots on goal.
Ali Miller improved to 4-6-1 in goal after stopping five of six shots on goal.
FLC will play their final home game of the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Westminster College. The Skyhawks will honor their four seniors before the game:
