DURANGO, Colo. – October 13, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team was handed a 3-0 loss Friday night in Whalen Gymnasium. Chadron State College swept the Skyhawks in three sets, -18, -21, -23.
The loss sets the Skyhawks record to 8-9 overall and 3-6 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches. The Eagles improve to 7-10 on the season and 4-5 in league matches.
Two Skyhawks recorded double digit kills.
Bailey Longacre led FLC with 12 kills and hit .375 while adding three blocks (one solo).
Maddie LeBlanc recorded 10 kills and committed only two errors on 22 attacks for a .364 hitting mark. LeBlanc also served four of FLC's five aces.
Defensively,
Laine Waters blocked three attacks and
Megan Graefe dug up 14 attacks.
Thirty of the Skyhawks 34 set assists came from
Kendra Swackenberg.
The Skyhawks hit .145 at the net and notched a 53 sideout percentage (39-of-73).
Fort Lewis will face No. 12 Regis University on Saturday at 5 p.m.
