DURANGO, Colo. – October 14, 2017 – The No. 12 ranked team in NCAA Division II swept the Fort Lewis College volleyball team Saturday evening in Whalen Gymnasium. The Skyhawks went into extra points in the opening set, 27-29, and fell in the next two sets, 18-25, 16-25.
Set one featured eight lead changes and 16 tied scores.
The setback moves the Skyhawks to 8-10 overall and 3-7 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches. RU remains undefeated in the league at 10-0, and 18-2 overall.
Bailey Longacre tallied nine kills and hit .120 to lead FLC's offense. She also assisted on three blocks.
Laine Waters and
Maddie LeBlanc each accounted for seven kills.
Three Skyhawks posted double-digit digs.
Elise Hill paced the Skyhawks with 13 digs, followed by
Megan Graefe's 11 digs and
Kendra Swackenberg's 10.
Swackenberg also contributed three blocks assists, two kills and an ace.
RU's Caitlyn Burroway led both teams with 14 kills and 17 digs.
FLC will continue their six match homestand on Tuesday against Adams State University at 7 p.m.
