DENVER – October 15, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College men's soccer team was shut out on the road by the 15
th ranked team in the nation, Colorado School of Mines, Sunday afternoon at Stermole Stadium in Golden, Colo.
The Orediggers (11-3-0, 9-1-0 RMAC) scored the only goal of the game at 71:53, handing the Skyhawks only their second loss of the conference season as they move to 6-4-4 overall and 6-2-2 in the RMAC.
Colorado Mines attempted 10 more shots than FLC, 18-8, and 6-1 shots on goal.
Churchill Onumonu and
Marshall Metzger each took two shot attempts.
Peter Byrne stopped five of six shots on goal as he played all 90 minutes between the posts.
Fort Lewis will return home to play the next three games at Dirks Field. FLC will play host to Regis University on Oct. 20 at 3 p.m., and Colorado Mines on Sunday at 1 p.m.
