Skyhawks Football Plays Mustangs in Non-Conference Game

The Fort Lewis College football team will play a non-conference game this Saturday at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, N.M.  Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.

FLC is coming off an upset win this past Saturday during their Homecoming Game against Colorado State-Pueblo, 35-24.  The last time FLC defeated the ThunderWolves was in 2014 when CSUP was ranked No. 2 in the nation.  The Pack went on to win the National Championship in 2014, with their only loss coming from FLC.

Fort Lewis held CSU-Pueblo to 85 rushing yards.
 
FLC possessed the ball for over 35 minutes (35:14 – 24:46).
 
Tyler Telphy led FLC with 122 rushing yards and one touchdown on 20 carries.  He added 81 receiving yards and a score on five catches for 203 all-purpose yards.
 
Arealous Hughes caught three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.
 
Darrian Stickney added nine tackles, three tackles for a loss of six yards, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Western New Mexico enters Saturday's contest with a 1-6 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the Lone Star Conference.

The Mustangs are averaging 24.6 points per game and are allowing 40.3 points per game.
 
WNMU's lone win of the season was on Oct. 7 at home against Tarleton State University (W, 38-25).

FLC is third in the league in interceptions, recording nine interceptions in seven games, including three picks for touchdowns.  FLC also boasts the third most interception return yards in the league (158 yards).

The Skyhawks have committed nine turnovers (four fumbles, five interceptions), while forcing 13 turnovers (nine interceptions, four fumbles).  The Skyhawks +4 turnover margin is third in the league.

Junior Donell Pleasant III is tied for the second most interceptions in the league.  Pleasant has three picks for 48 yards.

Freshman Ben Raybon has converted 5-of-7 field goals, the third most made by any kicker in the league.  Combined with his five field goals and 16 extra-points, Raybon's 31 points are the fifth most in the league by a kicker.

Linebacker Darrian Stickney has recorded 60 tackles this season, the sixth most in the RMAC. Twenty-nine of his tackles have been solo stops.  He is averaging 8.6 tackles per game.

Junior running back Tyler Telphy leads the team and is eighth in the RMAC in all-purpose yards.  In six games this season, Telphy has carried the ball 81 times for 483 yards and three scores.  He has eclipsed 100-yard rushing yards in a game three times.

FLC's clock management is No. 1 in the RMAC, possessing the ball an average of 34:06 minutes per game, more than two minutes longer than the next opponent.
