DURANGO, Colo. – October 21, 2017 – For the second straight match, the Fort Lewis College volleyball team dropped a five set match at home. FLC fell to Westminster College, 3-2, Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium.
The Skyhawks (8-12, 3-9 RMAC) won the first set, 25-22, but lost set two, 25-17, before taking a 2-1 lead in set three, 25-22. The Griffins came back to win the final two sets, 26-24 and 15-8.
Maddie LeBlanc charted 13 of the Skyhawks 57 kills.
Laine Waters hit .393 for the match behind her 11 kills. She did not commit a hitting error on 28 attempts. Waters also dug up three attacks and blocked six (three solo).
Hannah Hargrove added 10 kills, two block assists and a .320 hitting mark.
Kendra Swackenberg tallied 44 set assists. As a team, the Skyhawks hit .224.
The Griffins (6-15, 3-10 RMAC) finished the match with 82 kills and a .288 hitting percentage.
FLC will play their next five matches on the road. The Skyhawks travel to New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 27 and CSU-Pueblo on Oct. 28.
