ALAMOSA, Colo. – October 22, 2017 – Adams State University netted two first half goals to post a 2-1 win over the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team Sunday afternoon in Alamosa, Colo. The loss sets the Skyhawks record to 4-8-1 overall and 4-6-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games.
"We went down two goals in the first half despite dominating possession and being quite good and aggressive on the attack," said head coach
Jimmy Hall. "It's disappointing to watch us get caught off guard on two counter attacks; they had good finishes against us. We dominated again in the second half and were able to create a goal. It was very well orchestrated goal. We had other chances to score but it was too little, too late."
Kendall Weld and Lacey Daniel gave the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Skyhawks
Alicia Sanchez scored her fourth goal of the season on a header from
Jackie Strom at 76:56 to put FLC on the scoreboard.
The Skyhawks outshot ASU, 9-7. Sanchez and
Payton Balduini each took three shots against ASU.
Fort Lewis will play their final two games of the regular season Oct. 26 at Colorado Christian and Oct. 28 at Colorado Mines.
